Referral for Individual Evaluation for Special Education Services
For students who have not made adequate progress according to their Tiered paperwork, the problem-solving team may consider referring the RtI student and all acquired data to the IEP team for an evaluation for special education services. The data collected in the RtI process shall be considered by the IEP team. Please refer to the referral procedures for special education for more information.
In the case of a student meeting eligibility criteria for placement into the exceptional children’s program, all RtI paperwork should remain in the RtI folder. The RtI folder should then be stored in an “Inactive RtI” location. Copies can be made as needed for the exceptional children’s record folder; however the original RtI paperwork must remain in the RtI folder. In the case of a student’s ineligibility for Exceptional Children’s Services, the student shall return to the Johnston County Schools RtI Tiered III services in the area of concern.
